Celtic Woman

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Jordin’s number last night was great! Can I change my vote now? Or rather, can we have 2 winners as American Idol instead of 1? :) It’s always fun watching the program. My friends and I would always pretend that we’re part of the judges’ committee. We’d try to see who’s in line with what the judges think of each performance. =P

Speaking of singing and music, a good friend of mine gave me an Irish album last weekend - Celtic Woman.  It’s superb!  Grab it if you have the chance.  I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did!

Celtic Woman is a musical ensemble comprised of five Irish and one New Zealand female artists: vocalists Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha and Hayley Westenra, and violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. The group’s repertoire ranges from traditional Celtic tunes to modern songs. To date, the group has released three albums, Celtic Woman, Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration and Celtic Woman: A New Journey, and have undertaken a number of world tours.

The foundation for Celtic music’s popularity outside of Ireland and Europe was previously set by artists Enya and Clannad, along with stage shows Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. To this end, Celtic Woman has been referred to as "Riverdance for the voice".

Do It Anyway…

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

I was truly inspired by Martina McBride’s song on last week’s American Idol.

Do It Anyway Lyrics
Martina McBride

You can spend your whole life buildin’ something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You could chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway, I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy and it’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart for all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
love ‘em anyway

God is great but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway, Yeah I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singin’ a song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway, Yeah sing it anyway

I sing
I dream
I love anyway

Great song, isn’t it?  I sooo love every single line.  Speaking of American Idol, I’ve been waiting for like forever for Sanjaya to be voted out, it has finally happened.  :)  I’ve got nothing personal against him - his looks, his famous hairdo, but, for me, he really is the worst singer among the top 10.  My vote for American Idol 2007 is Melinda Doolittle.  Who’s your vote?  :)

My 4th Bali holiday

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Well, for those asking… I’ve had a great holiday!  J  Started well with my flight flying off 15 minutes early, although the ride was a bit bumpy ‘cause it was raining.  You can see lightning outside the window.  I remember thinking, please don’t hit the plane.  Ha ha ha  But then, I went on thinking, hmmm… I assume that they have made the planes “lightning attack free” right?  I mean, that’s part of the perils of flying so they should have considered that.  And I did later on found out that yes, some of the key people who make the planes did some tests on lightning so that planes are somehow “lightning attack free”.  I just hope they did a thorough test.  J

I think around 30% of the occupants in the plane comprised of teenagers who were on their spring break.  I assumed that they’re mostly kids of expatriates working in Jakarta.  When asked where they are going to stay, the answer’s all the same, Hard Rock Café-hotel.  Whew!  That confirms my thoughts that these kids are rich.  =P  And observing these kids, I hope that when I have kids of my own, they will grow up that way too.  I mean, not the snobby snotty rich-kid type who’s always being handed the silver-spoon.  I am talking more about how these kids gets to explore the world at such a young age.  Having these kinds of experiences broadens their perspective on everything.  Here’s to our generation bringing up “the best” generation yet to be… (for lack of better words), discovered and revealed.

Well, mostly Max and I just went surfing.  Him surfing in the water while I surfed (combed) the beach for just about anything and everything.  Ha ha ha  Don’t worry, I plan to learn one day.  And he does plan to teach me… so you guys be patient.  You will one day hear from me that I know how to swim already and not only that, I surf.  Ya right!  =P

Highlights of my trip… well, we had planned on going on some of the cruises around Bali.  But on the days that we reserved our slots, Max got sick (flu).  And myself, although not sick, but with my period, it seems like I’m more sick than him because I slept almost the whole day through.  Anyway, it was good that from the start, the cruises somehow didn’t appeal to me that much, otherwise, I would have been extremely disappointed.  I was really more of after the food there and I got more than what I had hoped for.  So everything’s good!

J

Anyhow, now, it’s time to seriously start planning what I’m gonna do on my 5 weeks holiday in Perth on June-July.  Ho ho  Any suggestions?  J
