I’ve arrived early this morning, Friday, 2nd of November, in Perth, Australia.  YES!!!  I’m finally back again…  It has been a long journey… and made the triumph all the more glorious!  :)

Anyhow… my new blog is up… http://stayfunny.wordpress.com/

Battle’s finally over!

October 27th, 2007 by stephanietiu

Yeeha!  My ongoing battle to get my student visa is finally over!  I’m on my way to starting a new chapter in my life!  :)  I’m flying to Perth on Tuesday, October 30.
I’ve just came back from a nice holiday in Bali with my bub…again overindulged ourselves with the local cuisine.
It was funny how I got the news about my visa being approved.  That noon, Max and I was in the pool.  After we got out, I slipped on the concrete floor and landed HARD on my back.  OOWWWW!  You tell me about it!  It really hurt!  As I was falling, I was praying… Lord, I don’t want to die yet!  Literally… no exag.
It’s good nothing really bad happened… like me breaking my hip bone.  And then after a few minutes, I got the text that delivered the good news about my visa… and I thought… well… it’s worth the fall.  :P
And the news couldn’t have come at a better time as we had just celebrated our one year together…  *sigh*  All things looking GREAT!

The battle is almost over…

October 9th, 2007 by stephanietiu

The battle with getting my Australian student visa is almost over… I hope.  It’s been several months now.  Sometimes I get good news and then immediately right after follows some kind of a "bad" news.  It’s like you’re not allowed to feel totally happy about it.  The hardest battle is with showing finances and the medical result.  It may sound easy but they’re really very fussy about it.

I’ve finally got my sputum culture test result out this past Monday and it’s negative.  YEY!!!  But… I kinda have that fear now instilled in me that maybe a "bad" news is gonna follow this good news.  Have you ever had that feeling?  Anyway… I hope that is the end of my battle… I have always tried to be positive in everything… but sometimes it’s just tiring…

Anyhow… here’s to a new life in Australia soon… I’ve been working on my new website a few months now… it’s nothing extraordinary… but I just thought that since I’m gonna start a new chapter in my life… I’ll start a new blog as well… stay tuned!  :)

On visas…

August 26th, 2007 by stephanietiu

Haven’t had time to write lately… or… rather, should I admit it’s pure laziness?  he he  I’ve been busy from my last few days in Perth and upon coming back to Jakarta.  I had to secure all the papers needed for my visa back to Australia.  This time, I applied for the student visa.  Not because I like to study, gawd, I hate studying.  But getting the student visa will allow me to be physically in Australia and thus, nurture my relationship with my bub.  :)

This is an ‘expensive’ decision though.  Tuition fees can be so expensive.  A 6-months course can cost you between U$6000-15000.  Not to mention the amount you have to pay for the visa itself and what nots.  I’d have to work my butt off in Perth so I can make more than what I’ve expended so far.

Speaking of expenses, I also spent a lot on my medical check-up, not to mention the emotional drain it caused me.  I’ve always had grade A health so it was a shock to me when they told me that they’ve found a ‘white spot’ in my left lung, and more shocking when they told me that I have an ‘old inactive pulmonary tuberculosis’.  Just hearing the word ‘tuberculosis’ is more than enough to rattle me as I am not medically knowledgeable.

So that got me researching more about it and asking doctors here and there.  I found out that it’s actually very common in everyone to have it.  If I remember correctly, I read in one article that 95% of the population have had pulmonary tuberculosis at one time or another in their life.  And once you’ve had it, it’s like your lung is scarred for life.  The sign will always be there.

Since I had an old scar, the Australian Embassy, being as strict as they are, wanted to make sure that it’s an old inactive one so I had to go for sputum test and skin test.

After 2 weeks of tests and consultation, the doctor wrote me off as having 100% sound health.  :)  YEY!!!

Still… no time to celebrate yet as the visa hasn’t come out yet.  I am crossing both my hands and feet.  :)

Brrr…..

Hi everyone. I haven’t been able to write much lately…just been busy and excited for my trip I guess.

Flight was great.  Qantas airline service is pretty good I would say.  :)  But since I flew at an ungodly hour, I was dead tired by the time I arrived in Perth.  And because of the cold, been spending a lot of time sleeping.  =P

I’m now in Pemberton and just came from "attempting" to climb the Gloucester Tree.  =P  It’s freezing cold out here, in fact, my hands are freezing as I am typing this.

Well, that’s it for now.  Will write more and post pictures soon! :)

Gamehouse Aficionado

May 23rd, 2007 by stephanietiu

Lately I’ve been downloading heaps and heaps of games from Zango, Popcap and Gamehouse.  I love Gamehouse the most though.  Some of the games I like the most are:

Word games:

     Games_texttwist_80x45 Super TextTwist

     Ba_80x45 Bookworm Adventures Deluxe

     Scrabble_80x45 Scrabble

Puzzle and Action Games:

     Bigcityadventure_80x45 Big City Adventure: SF

     Magicacademy_80x45 Magic Academy

     Chuzzle_80x45 Chuzzle Deluxe

Ddfloonthego_80x45 Diner Dash: Flo On The Go

     Cakemania_80x45 Cake Mania

     Games_pizzafrenzy_80x45 Pizza Frenzy

     Mysteryville_80x45 Mysteryville

     Games_insaniquariumdeluxe_80x45 Insaniquarium Deluxe

     Feedingfrenzy2_80x45 Feeding Frenzy 2

I still have to explore the other games.  =P  You can find cracks and keygens easily in several websites.  Why buy the software when there are cracks available right?  That’s using resources wisely. (Truth be told: I’m just stingy… ha ha ha)

I have to caution you though that these crack and keygen websites tend to contain lots of malwares and viruses so be extra careful!  You don’t want your PC or laptop crashing down.

Anyhow, here’s a crack that you can download and use with most of the games from gamehouse.

It’s supposed to be a universal gamehouse patch.  I haven’t tried enough though so I don’t know.  But so far, I’ve tried it several times on different games and it seems to work - without hitch.

Have fun!  :)

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!

May 17th, 2007 by stephanietiu

I can’t believe my ears when I heard that Melinda Doolittle was sent home this week.  I guess really, to win American Idol, or to be "liked" by the public consists of more than the voice, physical appearance is an important thing.  However, like Paula, I believe that Melinda’s gonna start her career in singing anyway even if she did not win the title of ‘American Idol 2007′.

Celtic Woman

April 26th, 2007 by stephanietiu

Jordin’s number last night was great! Can I change my vote now? Or rather, can we have 2 winners as American Idol instead of 1? :) It’s always fun watching the program. My friends and I would always pretend that we’re part of the judges’ committee. We’d try to see who’s in line with what the judges think of each performance. =P

Speaking of singing and music, a good friend of mine gave me an Irish album last weekend - Celtic Woman.  It’s superb!  Grab it if you have the chance.  I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did!

Celtic Woman is a musical ensemble comprised of five Irish and one New Zealand female artists: vocalists Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha and Hayley Westenra, and violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. The group’s repertoire ranges from traditional Celtic tunes to modern songs. To date, the group has released three albums, Celtic Woman, Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration and Celtic Woman: A New Journey, and have undertaken a number of world tours.

The foundation for Celtic music’s popularity outside of Ireland and Europe was previously set by artists Enya and Clannad, along with stage shows Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. To this end, Celtic Woman has been referred to as "Riverdance for the voice".

Do It Anyway…

April 23rd, 2007 by stephanietiu

I was truly inspired by Martina McBride’s song on last week’s American Idol.

Do It Anyway Lyrics
Martina McBride

You can spend your whole life buildin’ something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway

You could chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway, I do it anyway

This world’s gone crazy and it’s hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart for all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away
love ‘em anyway

God is great but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway, Yeah I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singin’ a song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway, Yeah sing it anyway

I sing
I dream
I love anyway

Great song, isn’t it?  I sooo love every single line.  Speaking of American Idol, I’ve been waiting for like forever for Sanjaya to be voted out, it has finally happened.  :)  I’ve got nothing personal against him - his looks, his famous hairdo, but, for me, he really is the worst singer among the top 10.  My vote for American Idol 2007 is Melinda Doolittle.  Who’s your vote?  :)
